Curiosity and image creation has been the ever present cause and effect throughout my life. Filming interviews, photographing portraits, being invited into new environments and exposed to different perspectives keep my curious mind occupied.
I received my first film camera as a kid, taking pictures of my classmates and friends and developing my negatives in the school darkroom on my lunch breaks in the north of England. My father worked for Ilford at the time. Documenting the people around me became second nature, but I chose to study engineering at college and then university, needing to know how things worked.
Cinematography then found me whilst traveling in my late 20’s, the advent of HD video being readily available in stills cameras like the Nikon D90 and Canon 5D ii made it possible for me and many other shooters to use our cameras to create quality web content. It was a good time to start my journey into cinematography.
I then moved from England to make my home here in Melbourne 8 years ago and have since established myself as a freelance cinematographer and full ACS member. I specialise in web content for such brands as Ebay, AGL, Uber, the Heart Foundation, Optus and Australia Post. I have also shot a number of passion projects, including music videos, documentary shorts and a few short narrative films. The last project I worked on as a gimbal operator was shown in competition at the Telluride Film Festival in 2017.
There’s a lot I could say about the advancements in lighting and camera technology and in the ways that we deliver, consume and access content, it’s important to stay on top of all that and I take it all very seriously but I’m at my happiest when I can capture someone’s story and in the process, make that shit look good...

Oh, also I was born in a hurricane, it’s not important but it’s still cool, I just couldn’t crowbar that one in any earlier.
